This is Kilauea’s burning crater from January 2017. It was a beautiful night with some activity in the crater as seen by the light flash in the image… this is lava bubbling up. One year later and Kilauea is erupting again with new lava flows.
This is the peak of Big White looking West to the Monashee mountains across what they call the ‘Enchanted Forest’. The previous day it snowed like crazy, and this next day it was powder top to bottom. The trees when covered with snow are locally known as ‘snow ghosts’ – great name!
This is sunrise over Mount Tanner and Mount Cochrane, Monashee Mountains, B.C. week of March 10 while skiing at Big White with the family. Yes the skiing was just as good as this view!
Flying over Kauai’s Lihue-Koloa Forest Reserve in a helicopter an hour or so after sunrise, fortunate to capture these wonderful yellow and purple streaks of light and shadows across the mountain range.
Just in time for Halloween, I share the Haunted Halloween Harvest Moon for your spooky pleasure! Sure feels like ghosts and goblins are flying through the night. What we really have here is the Thanksgiving full moon passing behind leaves dangling from a tree around 11pm at night. Boo!!!
Smell that fresh air and soak in those colors! This is one of those moments to savor. Life does move fast, yet here everything holds still. Thanksgiving weekend, Echo Lake
A few weeks back we visited Burlington’s Royal Botanical Gardens in hopes of getting spring here sooner (didn’t work!). Their indoor flowers were in full bloom, as seen here, and for a moment it felt like winter was done.
The view back up ‘Village Way’ ski run with peak of Big White Mountain in background, and high alpine skiable terrain. Highly recommend this back country mountain on the border of the Kootenay region British Columbia, for the pure fun of skiing.
