Highlight of the week! First time making homemade bread bakery style from a red Dutch Oven.
Flour, yeast, salt, water… and a Dutch Oven. That’s it. And the taste? Incredible! Take The Keg’s original bread (before they dumbed it down) and amp it by 4x, its that good. Tracy ordered a red Dutch Oven on-line and this week made her first bakery style bread at home, and it was the highlight of the week for the family. It’s obvious many of us are baking more because it sure is hard to find flour. Took three tries until we found what was needed at The Monastery. Comfort food for our new life!
Chef David Friesen’s entree special featuring local pickerel on a bed of quinoa, tomatoes, peppers and wilted Swiss Chard, plated high like a tower. Riverwalk can be found in Bracebridge, Ontario overlooking the Muskoka river.
Our hostess is crafting the Gunbarrel Coffee for a pair of guests. Yes, that is a double barrel shot gun she is pouring burning Grand Marnier down and into the coffee, which itself is made with Creme de Cacao, coffee and whipped cream! The stove to left of the coffee was used to heat the gun barrels. This drink was invented 30+ years ago and is available at the Gunbarrel Grill, Big White Ski Resort.
Food is better eaten than photographed, however this is one of those few exceptions. On a walk through Paris’ Marais district, we stopped in a charcuterie to buy some deli meat, and while being served, I saw this hand made artisan pizza that looked delicious. So I took the picture!
Yuumm! Braised beef served with gnocchi, mushrooms and fingerlings at Vineland Estate Winery. I think this is the first time I’ve taken a picture of food – who can blame me with beef this good!
