fall colors in the forest lake of bays township muskoka
We hit peak color this week in the Baysville area, punctuated by a bright sun and shadows of the forest. This is along Browns Brae Road, a gravel route connecting a few of the lakes in the Lake of Bays Township.

The Snow Ghosts of Big White

This is the peak of Big White looking West to the Monashee mountains across what they call the ‘Enchanted Forest’. The previous day it snowed like crazy, and this next day it was powder top to bottom. The trees when covered with snow are locally known as ‘snow ghosts’ – great name!

Flying over Kauai’s Lihue-Koloa Forest Reserve in a helicopter an hour or so after sunrise, fortunate to capture these wonderful yellow and purple streaks of light and shadows across the mountain range.

A Fresh Winter Snowfall

What’s there not to like about snow? White, fresh, magical, picturesque… A view out back of house and into the ravine. Another winter has arrived!

Bright and still forest of Canada

Thanks for having a look. This is the last picture taken of the fall season at the cottage. Even with 2/3 of the leaves on the ground, it was still wildly spectacular to take in all the color and shadows. The day was bright, but cool, and completely still. Another reason to love Canada.

The Multi-Colored Rainbow Eucalyptus Trees of Maui, Hawaii

The Rainbow Eucalyptus trees of Maui are found on the drive to Hana. Like good tourists, we read up on them before heading out, and yes they are there ready to be touched and photographed 🙂 Everything about the color is natural. Annually patches of outer bark are shed, leaving the inner bark exposed. This then darkens to a mix of blue, purple, orange and maroon. It really looks like someone painted the trunks!

Blue Jay Taking In The Sunshine

Finally I believe we have spring coming to this area of the world! This Blue Jay, plus a pair of Cardinals, a woodpecker, and a Robin were busy eating and tending to their nests on Saturday afternoon.

Still Winter At Bay Lake Cottages

still winter at bay lake cottages
Surprise! April 15 and we find 2 feet of snow at our friends cottage. We planned to open it up for the summer, however found ourselves tobogganing down the driveway, building snowmen and having snowball fights. Highlight was having a drink on the snow covered dock, in a Muskoka chair, surrounded by frozen Bay Lake.

Birch Trees With A Backdrop Of Huge Color

Loved how the birch trees stood out from a multi-color backdrop of huge color. Over exposed the trees for effect.
